The Flash movie has experienced a handful of setbacks in the course of the film’s development, losing director Seth Grahame-Smith last year and later to his successor Rick Famuyiwa. Fortunately, recent news that directors Robert Zemeckis, Matthew Vaughn and Sam Raimi are leading candidates for directing the DC film was welcomed by most of the fans.
However, while fans may be excited about the news, Entertainment Weekly ‘s latest development report also revealed that actor Billy Crudup would have abandoned the project.
Having taken on the role of Henry Allen, the father of the Scarlet Sprinter, Crudup’s departure makes him the first actor to get out of the project. Ezra Miller and Kiersey Clemons remain attached to the film as Barry Allen and Iris West, respectively.
Warner Bros. declined to comment when Entertainment Weekly sought comment.
A release date for The Flash has not been scheduled, but Ezra Miller will return as the Scarlet Sprinter when Justice League hits theaters this year.
