Government calls for Accountability to Groups after Presenting Million-Dollar Amendments to the Budgets of 2017

The government has today claimed responsibility for parliamentary groups, after they have submitted about 6,000 amendments to the budgets of 2017 for more than 63,000 million euros, when the spending ceiling Is set at around 123,000 million.

“It is clear that this is incompatible with the decision of the House (Lower) approved by a large majority of the fixation of the ceiling of spending,” recalled the minister spokesman, Inigo Mendez from Vigo, in a press conference after the Council of Ministers .

“You have to be in line with the spending ceiling,” said the minister, who has said that increasing it would be “making fireworks in the face of public opinion” and irresponsible taking into account the process of fiscal consolidation in which they are Immersed administrations.

He added that Spain also needs a reformist policy and that the government of Rajoy is working in that line, since it has been the structural reforms undertaken in recent years that are allowing the current economic results.
