BMW M5 gets version with 600 hp
Special Edition Series Competition brings a rework the engine 4.4 V8
The BMW decided to perfect in its new special series based on the fifth generation of the BMW 5 Series In fact, based on the sportier configuration M5 .
Call Competition Edition , the novelty stands out for reworking the engine turbo 4.4 V8, especially in turbo working pressure and electronics of the engine, which allowed BMW to extract 600 hp and 71.3 lb.-ft. of torque. According to the brand, with the new V8 configuration , the M5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.9 seconds.
Only 200 units of the M5 Competition Edition will produced, with 100 of them in color Carbon Black and the other half with the Mineral White paint on the body. On the outside, the focus is on the alloy wheel rim 20 “and various details exclusive finish, as the rear diffuser carbon fiber, front grille with glossy black finish, among others. Inside, the sedan offers banks with greater lateral support and sound system Bang & Olufsen with 1.200W power.
The BMW M5 Competition version is based on the standard M5 fitted with the optional Competition Package as regular. in the meantime its 4.4-litre V8 have undergone an ECU update and boost force increase, upping power and torque by 40bhp and 16lb/ft, correspondingly.
That means a sum of 592bhp and 516lb/ft of torque, which is excellent for 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 155mp, although it would happily blast far beyond this.
Other additional include a recalibrated differential, reprogrammed M chassic control system, recalibrated navigation and better suspension that brings the car closer to the floor.
As for aesthetic transformation, expect carbon fibre utilized for the rear diffuser, spoiler and mirror caps, while the regular issue kidney frame and side gills now have on M5 Competition package badges. A choice of either a Carbon Black or Mineral White paintjob is available.
